Skyline view of city lights in bustling Taipei

Taipei is notorious for its eateries, nightlife, hotels and, most of all, its shopping scene. Once you’ve booked one of the best hotels in Taipei, hit the streets! While shopping may be something many people love doing on the weekends, shopping in Taipei is an entirely different story. Next to sight seeing, shopping is one of the most popular things tourists do when visiting a new country. After all, it’s not everyday you get to go shopping in Taiwan.

After booking a stay at Taipei hotels, visitors take advantage of everything the country has to offer and this means shopping. Shopping places in Taipei include department stores, shopping malls, night markets, shopping districts and underground transit malls.

Night Markets

For those unfamiliar, night markets are just street markets that open at around 4pm and hit their busiest time at night. Often times they’re open past midnight. They’re meant for people who enjoy going for a walk at night and do a little shopping and go for dinner. They are a night owl’s delight.

Li Yuan Hotelis located in Taipei’s Zhongzheng District, a five-minute walk to Shihda Night Market. The hotel offers elegant accomodations featuring free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and free bottled water. Also onsite are a cafe, fitness center,  sauna, beauty/hair salon, billiards, massage, night club, recreation center and conference rooms.

There are many night markets in Taipei, but the busiest one is the Shilin Night Market, which is located in the Shilin District. Night markets are often well known and the most popular type of shopping in Taiwan when it comes to food.

Hotel Mai is a three-minute walk from Nanjing Business Center and a 10-minute walk from Shilin Night Market. There are 3 large shopping malls with an array of shops and restaurants surrounding the MRT.  Taxis for longer excursions are in plentiful supply at the hotel’s entrance.

Shopping Malls

A majority of the shopping in Taipei is done in the malls located in the Daan and Xinyi districts. These malls are the main place where people go shopping for high-end clothing, shoes and other necessities. Markets are known for people looking for good deals.

Hotel Eclat Taipe is approximately 40-minutes from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport and benefits from close proximity to the World Trade Center and Xinyi Shopping District. Luxury touches include optional butler service, and a Bang & Olufsen audio system and Nespresso coffee machine in every room.

There are many different malls for an enjoyable day of shopping in Taipei.  For tourists heading to Taiwan on vacation here is a look at a few of the different shopping malls you can visit.

Core Pacific City

Core Pacific City, known as the Living Mall, has a total of about 204,190 square meters of shopping space. The L-shaped mall was built in 2001. Core Pacific City has specialty boutiques that are connected to the Mira Department Store.

Taipei 101

The Taipei 101 is a landmark skyscraper that’s located right in the Xinyi District. In 2004 the building was named the world’s tallest. The title was taken away in 2010 when Burj Khalifa opened in Dubai.
